I turned to create because I was inspired by several people.
1: My wife - Greatest pain in my butt but also the most loving (at her discretion of course :)) as well as compassionate, genuine, dedicated, creative, and brilliant. Her wheels are always spinning in many directions but it's always driven by her heart. -
2: A new coworker who became a dear friend. We have been working with one another virtually and have been having real, candid, raw conversations. Her being, our conversations, and the timing of her sharing her rock collection and her boyfriend's art with me really help set my mood. -
3: An old friend from HS who appreciates history an incredible amount and a lot of what she posts has to do with it. If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have come across the photo this was based on, nor be able to geek out with someone about history.
I picked up some charcoal and drew this. Last time I did that was 12+ years. It felt AMAZING!
Challenges: sometimes if I think and invest too much time into thinking and feeling g about how Coronavirus is affecting everyone, my heart aches and everything just gets really heavy.
Triumphs: being surrounded by beauty. For instance Create4Corona. Opportunities for greater appreciation. I also started gardening and DIY projects.
For most of my life, I didn't know what self-care was. I knew what care was because I cared deeply about many things, many people. It wasn't until these past few years that I acknowledged it as a priority for me. This was huge. That doesn't mean actions followed suit from that acknowledgement. heh :). After 4 years, I still don't know what that consists of, or what that really means to me, or how to do it, how to obtain it, how to achieve it. But, I've been told I'm stubborn and I'm continuing to learn. And I'll be damned if I leave this earth without trying. Baby steps are foundational steps. Any step is groundbreaking. - AA
